Autumn Office Wear - Men's Fashion Guide

As the weather is getting colder, we can look forward to chilly mornings, crisp orange leaves, and warming hot drinks. As with every change in season, the shift into autumn requires a wardrobe refresh. Going back to work after a refreshing summer trip might feel a bit boring or stressful, but it can be made a whole lot more fun if you have some smart autumnal office looks lined up.

Autumnal Colours

First let’s cover the autumnal colours. This is a season of muted earthy tones, typically browns, oranges and dark yellows, paired with a classic beige, white or black capsule wardrobe for endless effortless combinations.

Jackets

Often, a good outfit can feel ruined when you must add a jacket, and finding the perfect top layer for the transitional not too warm/not too cold months can be tricky, this is where unstructured blazers come in clutch. An unstructured blazer is a more casual option to those that come with internal padding and stiff shoulder pads, making them perfect to add a top of already layered outfits such as shirts and jumpers. Using a blazer as a jacket can help you look professional and smart even when you have to bundle up warm.

Knitwear

Knitwear of all kinds are a clear go-to for the colder months, cardigans and jumpers of all kinds lend themselves perfectly to layering with your everyday office wear, however an item that gives effortless sophistication in any look is the turtleneck. A thin black turtleneck added underneath a button-down shirt not only adds warmth but also style to a smart-casual look. Or a chunky knitted turtleneck works as the perfect top layer to a casual but put-together autumn look.

Boots

A solid pair of boots are a staple in any autumn wardrobe. Especially here in the UK, September and October can be wet months, so making sure your shoes are up to tackling a potentially soggy commute is a must. Chukka boots are a classic ankle high men’s boot that are versatile in the way they can be dressed up in place of a dress-shoe or dressed down for a casual outdoorsy look. Typically made of leather or suede, making them the perfect formal shoe for chilly weather.

Autumn Socks

One of the best ways to feel warm is by making sure no heat leaves your body through your feet, that’s why high-quality socks are the key to keeping cosy this autumn without needing to bundle up. When picking out autumn and winter socks, naturally warm materials such as wool and cashmere are a must, especially if you are prone to chilly feet in the colder months. However, warm socks don’t have to be boring, in-fact, small accessories such as socks, gloves, hats and scarves are the perfect place to add in a little dash of autumnal colours and patterns to bring any outfit to life!
